The Fogel Murders: "Simply Because they are Jewish"

The Fogel Family

Rabbi Udi and Ruth Fogel and three of their six children were expelled from Gush Katif in 2005 as part of then Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's plan to end the same terror that cruelly ended their lives in the brutal massacre Friday night in Samaria.

They were forced out of Netzarim in central Gaza, re-located to Ariel in Samaria along with other expellees. Two years ago, they moved to Itamar, where Rabbi Fogel, a former IDF tank unit officer, taught in the post-high school yeshiva there, in charge of students who had completed their IDF service and returned to Torah study.

In an interview with Israel National News last year, they spoke of the new lives in Itamar, (north of Jerusalem) which Ruth Fogel said is an open, unassuming  community that accepted them immediately with love. She held one of her children on her lap, telling the interviewer that this is a natural way for him to get to know her.

Ruth Fogel’s father is Rabbi Yehuda Ben Yishai, of the Machon Meir yeshiva in Jerusalem.

Notes:
In blessed memory of the Fogel family, I would like to propose a tribute:

1.  That from this day forward no Israeli leader or media/newspaper refer to Jewish homes as "settlements".  Eretz Yisrael is NOT a settlement for the Jewish people, it is home.  The Fogel family were forced out of their home in 2005 for the sake of "peace" - their former home became a launching pad for Hamas terrorists.

2.  Understand that anyone referring to Jewish homes as "settlements" de-legitmizes the State of Israel.

3.  Israel's leaders must take a stand and set the ground rules for building within their borders, including Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem.  Allowing the enemies of Israel to determine where or when Israeli citizens can live is not appropriate for the sovereign State of Israel.

4.  The day Israel determines where peoples of other nations can build homes is the day Israel should allow other nations to interfere with their leadership - not before!

Come in peace - Jacob Shwekey
