On September 11, 2011, a solemn memorial service will take place at Ground Zero on the tenth anniversary of that fateful day when 3,000 innocent Americans were killed by an attack on the United States by radical Islamists. It will remind us that although Osama bin Laden was killed by American Navy Seals, the war against radical Islam continues. Indeed, it has simply entered a new phase, the nature of which will be determined by the outcome of the Arab Spring.
As in memorial services in previous years, the names of the dead will be read by their relatives, who still suffer their losses. And it is important that we should be reminded of that day, which destroyed our delusion that the fall of the Berlin Wall would usher in a new era of world peace and happiness. Instead, we now face, for the indefinite future, a global war declared by radical Islam.
Several years ago, a PBS Frontline film showed, for the first time, people leaping out of the windows of the World Trade Center, hurtling their bodies to sudden death. They had all gone to work that morning expecting nothing more than the usual minor decisions of the day – what to have for lunch, what movie to see that night, what to bring home for the kids. They had no idea that in less than an hour they would have to choose how to die: be burned alive or leap from the building. Not exactly your usual choices on a beautiful, sunny workday, courtesy of the religion of peace.
Several thousand people, unable to get out of the buildings, were faced with such biblical choices. Of course, hundreds were killed instantly when the planes plowed into the towers. Their lives were snuffed out before they even knew what hit them. And every day in Iraq, people’s lives are suddenly snuffed out by the same radical Islamic bombers who won’t stop their mayhem until they are wiped out.
The new phase of the war includes the building of a mosque near enough to Ground Zero that many believe it is being built to honor the “martyrs” who destroyed the Twin Towers and are presently enjoying their 73 virgins in paradise. It is now known that the Muslim Brotherhood has had a strategic plan to change America into a Muslim society, which was published in 1991 and has been translated into English. The plan, or Memorandum, was distributed to members of the Muslim Brotherhood for their comments and critiques. Mohamed Akram, author of the Memorandum, wrote:
My request to my brothers is to read the memorandum and to write what they wanted of comments and corrections, keeping in mind that what is between your hands is not strange or a new submission without a root, but rather an attempt to interpret and explain some of what came in the long-term plan which we approved and adopted in our council and our conference in the year (1987).
The memorandum states further:
The general strategic goal of the Group in America which was approved by the Shura Council and the Organizational Conference for the year [1987] is “Enablement of Islam in North America, meaning: establishing an effective and a stable Islamic Movement led by the Muslim Brotherhood which adopts Muslims’ causes domestically and globally, and which works to expand the observant Muslim base, aims at unifying and directing Muslims’ efforts, presents Islam as a civilization alternative, and supports the global Islamic State wherever it is.”
“Islam as a civilization alternative.” Apparently, the Muslims see this struggle as a war of civilizations The strategy being used against us includes “settlement” or Muslim immigration. The memorandum states:
The process of settlement is a “Civilization-Jihadist process” with all the word means. The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in elimination and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.
An important component of this Jihadist movement is the creation of Islamic Centers in every city in the United States. That’s what the mosque near Ground Zero is being called: an Islamic Community Center, with all kinds of activities for young people, including cooking classes for the ladies.
Meanwhile, the Marxist Left and the radical Islamists have joined forces to destroy Western capitalism and our constitutional way of life. And what has been the response of our government? An airport security system that violates every aspect of dignity and privacy by assuming that everyone who wants to get on a plane is a potential suicide bomber.
Most people who commit suicide in America don’t bother to buy expensive airline tickets, strap bombs on themselves, and try to get on a plane without getting caught. They usually swallow overdoses of sleeping pills, or jump off the Golden Gate Bridge, or cut their wrists, or lock themselves in a garage with the motor running so that they can die of carbon monoxide poisoning while seated comfortably in their cars.
And, of course, in America we have a phenomenon known as assisted suicide, which does not entail trying to get on a plane in order to blow oneself up. So why does our government believe that every American is a potential suicide who would get on a plane to kill himself to please Allah?
And that is why so many Americans have lost confidence in a government that does not use common sense in making its policies. Why are there so many idiots in positions of power in Washington who can formulate such lunacy that affects every traveler? The only people who want to commit suicide by blowing up planes are radical Islamists, and they are easily recognizable: consider the Christmas underwear bomber and the shoe bomber. They did not look like your grandmother or fashion models! And both of them were able to get on planes.
Meanwhile, there doesn’t seem to be any way to stop the Muslim Brotherhood from using our free society to subvert our free society. We have a billion-dollar Homeland Security Apparatus that doesn’t know what it is defending. Apparently, they are transfixed by the security failure of Nine-Eleven and have concentrated their efforts on inspecting everyone who wants to get on a plane. But they have not done much to close the porous Mexican-U.S. border through which terrorists can enter the country.
So far, in the case of the underwear bomber, the shoe bomber, and the Times Square bomber, luck has been on our side. But perhaps al-Qaeda no longer has the personnel or capacity to carry out another grand attack on the United States. Yet, we keep hearing about the possibility of a Jihadist carrying a nuclear weapon in a suitcase coming across our border. And that is why the government insists that we have an airport security system that gropes grandmothers and children to make us feel safe.
