Containment is off the table?

Sunday, November 07, 2010

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told the Halifax International Security Forum on Saturday that the United States will need to attack Iran's nuclear capability before 2012, and that containment is now off the table.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said his fellow conservative, fresh from their historic elections romp this week, support "bold" action to deal with Iran.

If President Barack Obama "decides to be tough with Iran beyond sanctions, I think he is going to feel a lot of Republican support for the idea that we cannot let Iran develop a nuclear weapon," he told the Halifax International Security Forum.

"The last thing America wants is another military conflict, but the last thing the world needs is a nuclear-armed Iran... Containment is off the table."

The South Carolina Republican saw the United States going to war with the Islamic republic "not to just neutralize their nuclear program, but to sink their navy, destroy their air force and deliver a decisive blow to the Revolutionary Guard, in other words neuter that regime."

He spoke just days before expected nuclear talks will see US and Iranian officials sitting at the same table for discussions on Tehran's nuclear drive. The two countries have lacked diplomatic ties since the Iran hostage crisis of 1979.
..

The electoral defeat of four Democrats who sat on the powerful US House Armed Services Committee bolsters the Republican's position.

But Democrats may gain surprise support for continued diplomacy from some ultra-conservative Tea Party newcomers to Washington who diverge on foreign policy matters with their Republican brethren.

Various UN resolutions and sanctions have sought to halt Iran's uranium enrichment activities, so far having little effect.
Here's Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak's non-response to Iranophile Roger Cohen asking about Graham's statement.

Let's go to the videotape.

The problem is that under the US constitution, it's the President who has the power to make war. Congress has the power of the purse, but it cannot order an attack. I don't see Barack Obama attacking Iran under anycircumstances - at least as of right now. The best we can hope for from Congress is that they push Obama hard enough that he won't stop an Israeli attack, and maybe he'll even support one after the fact. And even that's a stretch.

For all who understand the threat Iran poses to the world, it's time for someone to say,

And again: Obama embarrasses America

While President Arrogant was winging his way to India on Friday with a staff of 3,000, three top State Department officials were being shellacked by such 'human rights' notables as Cuba, Iran, Libya and North Korea, all of whom lined up over night (I kid you not) for the opportunity to buy World Series tickets to embarrass the United States.
But in the three-hour inquisition which took place this morning, Michael Posner, Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor responded with “thanks to very many of the delegations for thoughtful comments and suggestions” shortly after Cuba said the U.S. blockade of Cuba was a “crime of genocide,” Iran “condemned and expressed its deep concern over the situation of human rights” in the United States, and North Korea said it was “concerned by systematic widespread violations committed by the United States at home and abroad.”

According to the Council’s procedure, all U.N. members are given carte blanche to comment and make recommendations to the state in the docket. But since only three hours are allotted per state, the practice has emerged of allowing approximately only the first sixty to speak.

This morning fifty-six countries lined-up for the opportunity to have at the U.S. representatives, many standing in line overnight a day ago in order to be near the top of the list. Making it to the head of the line were Cuba, Venezuela, Russia, Iran, Nicaragua, Bolivia, and North Korea.

Recommendations to improve the U.S. human rights record included Cuba’s advice to end “violations against migrants and mentally ill persons” and “ensure the right to food and health.”

Iran – currently poised to stone an Iranian woman for adultery – told the U.S. “effectively to combat violence against women.”

North Korea – which systematically starves a captive population – told the U.S. “to address inequalities in housing, employment and education” and “prohibit brutality…by law enforcement officials.”

Libya complained about U.S. “racism, racial discrimination and intolerance.”

In response to the many Guantanamo-related criticisms, the State Department’s top legal adviser, Harold Koh, blamed the failure to close the facility on others: “President Obama cannot close Guantanamo alone. That also involves our allies, the courts, and our Congress.”

The U.S. delegation was at pains to impress the international crowd. Esther Brimmer, Assistant Secretary, Bureau of International Organizations, told the assembled: “it is an honor to be in this chamber.”
I'm still an American citizen. Excuse me while I puke. The US has until Tuesday to accept or reject the 'recommendations.' The criticisms and the US response will be part of a document that will be distributed worldwide, and will undoubtedly be authoritatively cited in all UN bodies.

Someone in the Republican party ought to get video of this for use in the 2012 Presidential campaign. Remember which moron decided that the US should join the 'human rights council' (they don't even deserve capital letters anymore) in the first place.

Read the whole thing.

On Saturday (Nov. 6) the IAF targeted two terror-linked sites in the southern Gaza Strip. Direct hits and secondary blasts were identified.

These terror-linked sites were targeted in response to a Qassam rocket being fired and landing in the Sdot Negev Regional Council on Saturday morning. Since the beginning of 2010, approximately 180 Grad missiles, Qassam Rockets and Mortar shells have been fired from the Gaza Strip, landing in Israeli territory.

The IDF holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for maintaining the calm in the Gaza Strip and for any terrorist activity emanating from it. The IDF will continue to respond harshly to any attempt of terror against the State of Israel.

Israel: A Sixth Sense in the War on Terrorism

A Sixth Sense in the War on Terrorism
The new Sixth Sense technology will enable security forces to identify suspicious behavior and objects using two simple video cameras. Photo: Bamahane magazine

Nathanael Roseman, Bamahane magazine

Forces specialized in fighting terror as well as security officials will soon acquire a sixth sense: though it sounds like science fiction, it’s actually new technology for preemptive action against terror attacks and crime.

The system, manufactured by Ness Technologies, will identify suspicious activity in allotted areas and will thus alert of any unusual activity which could lead to acts of terrorism.

The project, dubbed Sixth Sense, was recently developed by the Israeli Ministry of Defense’s Administration for the Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure (Maf’at).

The new technology creates a three dimensional scan of a given area using two simple video cameras. By interpreting the information composed of people and objects, the system creates the normal image of an area, indicating change in the event of unusual activity. A man standing in the same place for a long time, a car driving in an unlikely direction or strange objects are all examples of the signs that will raise a red flag. In the event of unusual activity, the system marks the suspicious objects with a red square, such that a guard will be able to examine the area.

“Like in the movies, the problem is that most places are equipped with security cameras but it is very hard to see what’s going on and identify dangerous activity in the moment of truth”, explained Deborah Avi Sira, Director of the Fusion, Information and Simulation division at Ness. “Today, in every act of terrorism there is secret preparation that can be detected. In the moment of truth, it will be possible to alert security forces within seconds and prevent a disaster.” The system is unique in that it “learns” the daily routine in a given area and sounds the alarm if an unusual event occurs.

Ness Technologies began developing the system after a soldier was stabbed three years ago in the Old City in Jerusalem. On the videotape recording of the event, the attacker could be seen suspiciously walking around the area for several minutes– activity likely indicating an attack which could have been detected by and notified using the ‘Sixth Sense’.

PM Netanyahu’s Speech at the 40 Signatures Knesset Discussion

Mr. Speaker, Reuven Rivlin,
Members of Knesset,

I would like to say a few words about the death of our colleague, Sara Doron.  She was a minister in Begin’s and Shamir’s governments.  She was a member of Knesset in this house for 15 years.  She was president of the Maccabee Health Fund.  She was also the chairwoman of the Likud party.  But before that, she was a member of the liberal party.  During the national unity, she was part of the movement called “the national liberal movement”.  Sara Doron perfectly embodied these two words – she was nationalistic and she was liberal.  She was nationalistic in the sense of a very profound commitment to the Zionist idea and to the nation of the Jewish people.  She was liberal in that she always sought out progress, enlightenment and reform.

I remember that we spoke about this a great deal.  I got to know her over the years.  I had the opportunity to speak to her many times.  She was enlightened, smart and very educated.

Earlier, I spoke with Minister Meridor.  He described her very well: a good, wise and very moral woman.  I believe that perhaps the best thing we can do to commemorate her is to try and be more like her and educate people to follow in her path.

Next week, I will travel to the United States for the annual meeting of the Jewish Federations of North America.  I believe that several of you, including the head of the opposition and several ministers, will also be there.  This is important because strengthening the connection between the Israeli people – all sectors of the nation – with this significant portion of the Jewish people is essential to our existence.  The connection with the Jews of North America, not only at the leadership level, but also with the young generation is crucial.

I am proud that my government adopted the program that Yossi Beilin and several leaders of the American Jewish community – Michael Steinhardt and Charles Bronfman – established:
Birthright.  Birthright brings young people to Israel.  The government also supports MASA, the program established later on, as well as Nefesh B’Nefesh – these are all exceptional programs.

So far, over the past ten years, we have helped fund the program that brought young Jews from around the world to Israel.  One quarter of a million young Jews have visited Israel so far.  Given the powerful forces tearing Jewish identity apart, this is one of the most important corrective forces that has appeared in the Jewish world.  That is why I attribute tremendous importance to the range of connections we have with this community, not only on a political or an ongoing level, but at this more basic level of identity and strengthening identity.  We contribute to them, and of course they contribute to us.  I see this as one of the most important tools for our people, and certainly I will convey that during this meeting.

Of course, I will also meet with senior officials of the US administration, including Vice President Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
I greatly appreciate the efforts being made by President Obama’s administration to find a way to advance the political process.  I know we have the desire to advance it, and we are taking action, as we have in the past.  I am certain that the United States shares this desire and they too have taken and continue to take steps.

I hope that the Palestinian Authority will also demonstrate such a desire, and that they are not looking for excuses to avoid talks with us that would advance security and peace between us.  There are countless preconditions that could be imposed as an obstacle to talks.  We put them aside, and we expect the Palestinians to put them aside as well.

I will give you an example of what I mean from our side.  This morning, the Cabinet held a discussion.  During the discussion, work being carried out for almost six months was presented, work that is led by Minister Yaalon, to try and measure as objectively as
possible the level of incitement in the Palestinian Authority.  There are some unpleasant things happening there.  I do not refer to the statements by this or that individual.  I am talking about official schoolbooks, about the media controlled by the Authority.

The most serious characterization that arose from the materials the Minister showed us was not an argument about borders or certain settlements, but rather the negation of the State of Israel’s right to exist in any borders.  This is not expressed in one single article or unusual statement, but all the time.  To say the least, this does not advance reconciliation between peoples or increase our desire for a peace agreement.  This is no small matter.  This too was an official obligation that the Palestinians made.

By the way, the Wye Agreement, and later on the Roadmap, both outline a series of obligations.  I mention this here not to dwell on this matter, but rather to demonstrate the fact that preconditions could be brought up and could be tied to all sorts of previous agreements.  This could be done.  We chose not to do so, and I am not doing so now.  I promise you that I have brought up and will continue to bring up this matter, and it should be mentioned.  It too must be given a real answer in the framework of the peace process.  For now, I raise this to demonstrate the fact that we need to begin talks without preconditions and to complete them, or at least try to complete them.

Anyone with any common sense can see that this process demands fairness and telling the truth.  It did not fail because there was a lack of activity by the Israeli government.  If it failed, it failed because of an assumption made by the Palestinian Authority that perhaps they could circumvent or avoid the need for direct negotiations by moving straight on to international dictates or coercion, out of the assumption that they would get the credit, despite the actions taken and statements made by the Israeli government, simply because they believe that there is an international choir which would perhaps be joined by people within Israel who say: “Don’t confuse me with the facts.  Israel is guilty of something or other, and therefore we don’t have to enter into this process”.  I believe that we all share a national need to change the Palestinians’ perception, to clarify to them that there is the broadest possible consensus in this regard and that we will seriously examine whether or not we have partner for peace and security, because these two things go together, as I said here on many previous occasions.

I believe this is one of the problems.  MK Wilf expressed another problem well, one that is not only recent, but that has existed for the past decade.  I must say, you impressed me.  Your words were right and they were true.  They were not said because of some momentary self-interest, and they felt true.  This is the most important problem that Israel is facing.  It is the attempt to negate our legitimacy.

People say: “It is not unjustified to say that the willingness to enter into this process somewhat weakens the attempt to delegitimize Israel”, although in my opinion it is not just a procedural matter, but should be fully exhausted and lead to an agreement.  There is some truth to this statement.  If one has to pay endless costs just for the luxury of having a process, it is like a man standing on a street corner.  What I’ll tell you now is a recipe for immediate popularity.  Stand on a street corner.  If you have some money in your pocket, try this: give 100 shekels to the first person passing by, and to the second and the third.  Everyone will crowd around you and everyone will come to you and pat you on the back and tell you you’re a heck of a guy.  But soon enough, you’ll be in a situation where you’ll be bankrupt.

Therefore, this effort, the negotiations we are conducting over this piece of land where we are standing, from which we grew and where our future is – we cannot be spendthrifts, overly generous or frivolous.  There must be a stance in the face of the claims constantly being waged against us, without just cause.  This does not mean we cannot use certain tactics.  However, I believe that we know the truth.  It is the truth.  The truth is that there is great willingness on Israel’s part for a genuine peace process.  The truth is that there is not a similar willingness on the part of the Palestinian Authority.  I believe that, given the assumptions I outlined, and hopefully not because of a desire to avoid decisions and genuine compromises with the State of Israel, the desire to confront that same propaganda and incitement I mentioned, to face it as we have had to do with our own people, and say: this is the cost of an agreement – and the cost of an agreement is first and foremost to recognize that we will be here.  We have not seen these conditions ripen.  I hope we will be convinced otherwise.  However, in order to know if it can happen, we need to enter into the process, and there need be no argument about this, and there certainly should be no self-flagellation or blame laid on us or about us, because it is simply not appropriate or right.

God as Government - By Sultan Knish

Saturday, November 06, 2010
"In my own time governments have taken the place of people. They have also taken the place of God. Governments speak for people, dream for them, and determine absurdly their lives and deaths. This new worship of government... is a worship I lack. I have no reverence for the all-powerful and bewildered face of Government. I see it as a lessening of the human being and a final looting of his birthright."

Ben Hecht

God as government or government as god, is what takes place when you surgically slice away the "god" part of religion. Once you postulate that all religions are essentially the same, that they all worship the same god, and that the only differences between them are matters of ritual, then you have eliminated the differences and the identities of all religions. If there are no unique revelations, no special scriptures and no vital testaments... then each religion's identity becomes a formality, is reduced to a series of dubious traditions that don't really matter in the bigger picture. If all religions are equally valid, then they are also equally invalid. Just as, if all opinions are valid, then they are also equally invalid.

In the absence of theology, the only religion that remains is the universal one of "being nice to other people". Take god out of the equation, and all you have left is social justice. Liberalization leads to secularization with the end result that religion becomes one gigantic "being nice to other people" project. And what is the best possible vehicle for social justice projects, but government. And so governments became gods. Their mission to build kingdoms of heaven on earth, utopias in which no one went hungry and which everyone was equally prosperous.

Socialism and Communism had their roots in religious organizations that sought to create some sort of artificial equality between men, which eventually led to thoroughly irreligious attempts at creating kingdoms of heaven on earth. Ideology replaced theology. Ethical duties were conflated with political mandates. Equality replaced charity. The pursuit of equality was centralized within political systems and government agencies, which created their own gross inequalities through their power relationships.

Since equality of wealth could never be achieved, someone had to be held to blame. Success became a sin and wealth became the Mark of Cain. A secular theology evolved in which wealth was a satanic force controlling all societies, and whose privilege and power, the committed socialist was meant to fight. Like most fanatical crusades, this one spilled untold amounts of blood, with few of the murderers ever committing to a recognition of their own madness. Instead they usually turned on each other.

The socialist kingdom of heaven on earth replaces god with government as the overwhelming force that implements an absolutely just society and enlightens the people regarding their duties and the meaning of their lives. In Communist countries, religion was often dispensed with entirely. In more moderate Socialist systems, it is tolerated only to the extent that it echoes the social justice creed of the ruling culture. Thus there is no conflict between church and state. It is only when religion presumes to reach for some higher value system, that it becomes the enemy of the state.

But equality is not justice, it is actually a mandate for injustice. It provides a mandate for absolute tyranny in the name of social welfare. And with environmentalism, it reaches beyond tyranny in the name of man, to tyranny in the name of the polar bear and the ice caps. Behind it lies the insane hubris of god as government, of a political system taking on all the characteristics and powers of a religious one, complete with the fanaticism and omnipotence.

The religion of government justifies itself through the impossible messianic vision of equality, a state that cannot be achieved, but whose attainment provides an unlimited license for government to intervene in all human affairs. By turning government into the arbiter of equality, it gains an impossible mission and an unlimited scope of powers. A combination that historically has bred more nightmares than anything else.

"I glorify
in Lenin
World faith
and glorify my faith"

Mayakovsky, 1920

"O great Stalin, O leader of the peoples,
Thou who broughtest man to birth.
Thou who fructifies the earth,
Thou who restorest to centuries,
Thou who makest bloom the spring,
Thou who makest vibrate the musical chords...
Thou, splendour of my spring, O thou,
Sun reflected by millions of hearts."

Hymn to Stalin

“thou shalt smile!
for our President is smiling
just a man openly smiling...
let him beam
let his raw laughter flow where the fruited plains have faded, have dried.
let them slowly soak it up, that nurturing laughter.
let all the hillsides bloom with colors that no one’s seen for eight long years.
let Obama laughter ring. long may it
let it flood the high skies and tie sparkling wonder up in a silver bow."

Diane Wald, Starting Today, 100 Poems for Obama's first 100 Days

An impossible mission demands symbolic figures, leaders who transcend the political and ascend to the mystical. Who are somehow inhumanly inspirational, able to elevate their followers to a new state of being. Messiahs, so to speak. Leader-worship underlies the impossible mission. With faith in our leaders we can succeed.

Faith is required because the mission is inherently impossible. Only by believing in the latest Camelot in the latest "Communism-Over-the-Hill", can people suspend their disbelief, committing themselves to the thrill of Hope and Change, to "Yes We Can" and "We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For." The ecstasy is religious or rather pseudo-religious. It is government masquerading as god, anointing messiahs and trying to hide policy flaws under the veil of charisma.

Leader worship serves as a cover for tyranny, but more importantly as a cover for failure. Many people react to personalities, more than to policies. It is the antithesis of democracy which treats politicians as representatives, rather than saviors. But to god as government, democracy is heresy. It presumes that the people are qualified to elect leaders, rather than fainting before them and falling down at their feet. It presumes an equality between the electors and the elected. And equality is what the champions of equality promote, but not what they believe.

If we replace god with government, then it stands to reason that the government are on another plane of being above ordinary people. They may not be quite gods, but they are certainly more than mortal men. Their election is premised on our failure to conduct our own affairs, requiring wiser benevolent folk to step in and look after us. To guide us in the proper path. And so government goes from tool to minister to deity, deciding who will eat and who will starve, who will live and who will die. This is the essence of that arrogance, that grasping for absolute power in the name of a lie.

Government as god is always looking forward, to a new deal, a new frontier or a great society, some vast project of social justice always out there, a faint vision of a Communist future that is always hovering over the next horizon like a mirage in the desert. A future always out of reach because human greed is in the way. And since underneath it itself is also built on human greed, like the worst of fanatics, socialism maddeningly chases its own tail. And sooner or later it always turns on the people it claims to want to help, unless they turn on it first.

Daniel Greenfield

My note:

A most remarkable thought, which is all too clear to many Americans.  Slowly, but surely, America has removed the foundation of its existence - "faith" and  replaced it with a faith in the Welfare system and a promise of "hope and change" from one who is removing step by step, the history and Constitution of the United States.

However, that is not enough for this president, for while the Ten Commandments can no longer be hung in the halls of Justice, I'm sure those "100 poems" to Obama would be hung in its place without anyone questioning the purpose of Obama's "new" Psalms.  He whips up crowds to sing "Yes we can", as if he were the "Great and most holy, "I Am".

This president wishes to introduce a new ideology to Americans - an ideology that replaces one's Bible for the slavery of an Islamic teachings which would bring all of us back to an age when Islam ruled the day, slaughtered millions of Jews and Christians, took over entire countries, built their mosques  over the rubble of churches and synagogues and in 1,400 years, this political ideology of Islam has NOT changed its root causes for terrorism.  Today, like days of old, it continues to raise "Cane" where ever it gains a foothold!  The terrorism of Islam hides under the cover of a "religion of peace" and yet, cannot give one example of "peace" any where in this world - not the past, the present, or future.

If one should doubt the objectives of this man, check out who he has placed in "high" seats of government, as his "religious" advisers, or in the Department of Homeland Security, and within the halls of Congress.  It is estimated that there are already 45 followers of Islam in Congress, and this number grows with each vote from Americans.

Islam has used the very freedoms of America to tear this nation down.  It uses our laws, our Courts, our own Constitution to plant seeds of tyranny among the people and it is supported, embraced, promoted by the very one we call "president" - the man of many faces, but those faces are being revealed as Americans begin the long road of taking its country back, while returning to the faith of their fathers.

2Ch 7:14  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Public concerned about domestic/foreign policy

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has stated that yesterday’s Congressional election result indicates a sweeping rejection of President Obama’s domestic, economic and foreign policy. Many polls indicate Americans’ dissatisfaction with President Obama’s handling of the Arab/Israeli situation. This election further validates that part of the message sent yesterday to President Obama to cease pressuring Israel to make further, unreciprocated, one-sided concessions to the Palestinian Authority (PA) of Mahmoud Abbas and Salaam Fayyad, which promotes violence and hatred towards Jews. In results so far, the Democratic Party has lost at least six Senate seats, but appear likely to retain a small Senate majority, while in the House of Representatives, the Democratic Party has lost its majority to the Republican Party, by an astonishing loss of over 60 seats.

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, “By common consent, the strong swing against the Democratic Party in these Congressional elections reflect the unease and disapproval of the American public for the policies and performance of the Obama Administration in both domestic and foreign policy.

“In foreign affairs, the American public has certainly been upset and unnerved by such things as President Obama bowing before foreign despots, like the King of Saudi Arabia; his return of the gift of a famous bust of Winston Churchill to Britain, a long-standing ally, after refusing to display it anywhere in the White House; offering open-ended negotiations and lots of carrots but no sticks to Iran over its nuclear weapons program, only to be ridiculed; the wasting of two years before allowing largely ineffective anti-Iran sanctions to pass, during which time Iran has moved even closer to acquiring nuclear weapons; letting down of our Czech and Polish allies by discontinuing plans to install missile defense systems on their territory; the bullying pressures exerted on small, democratic Honduras to reinstate a lawless president favored by Latin American despots like Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega; the humiliation of his repeatedly apologizing abroad for U.S. actions; his erasure of the terms ‘radical Islam’ and ‘Islamism’ from government use; the renaming of ‘terrorism’ as ‘man-made disasters’; his support for civilian, rather than military tribunals to deal with foreign terrorists; and, last but not least, his policy towards Israel.

“This policy has consisted of the recurrent, harsh criticism, including public condemnation, of the U.S.’ best ally in the Middle East, Israel; pressure exerted upon it to make more one-sided concessions to the Palestinians, including a 10-month freeze on Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria; a refusal to state that the U.S. will veto any U.N. Security Council action to support establishing a Palestinian state; support for the so-called Arab Peace initiative, which demands Israeli withdrawal to the indefensible 1949 armistice lines; the flooding of Israel with Palestinian refugees of the 1948-9 war and their millions of descendants, and the leaving of 600,000 Jews in limbo in what would become Palestinian territory; as well as Obama’s failure to visit Israel since becoming president, despite two visits to the Middle East; and his not taking up Prime Minister Netanyahu’s invitation to visit Israel before the end of the year, to which President Obama responded that his schedule did not permit it. Moreover, President Obama publicly condemned Israel building in eastern Jerusalem, something that violated no existing U.S.-Israeli agreement and which in fact Israel had stated would continue. Now, he is exerting pressure on Israel to reinstitute the freeze on Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria.

“This is not merely a matter of conjecture. An April 2010 Quinnipiac University survey, for example, found that 44% of the American public disapproved of the Obama policy towards Israel and the Palestinians, whereas only 35% approved. Moreover, two-thirds of people questioned in the survey said that President Obama should be a strong supporter of Israel but, by a 42% to 34% margin, said he is not. Also, last year, when President Obama was strongly pressuring Israel to bar Jews, and only Jews, from building and moving into homes in Judea and Samaria and parts of eastern Jerusalem, a September 2009 Israel Project poll found that Americans supported by 72% to 23% Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement that ‘Israel must be allowed to accommodate natural growth of existing settlements.’ Clearly, the American public overwhelmingly disapproves of President Obama’s policy to stop Jews living and building in these areas.

“Indeed, even American Jews, who vote overwhelmingly Democratic, oppose Obama’s policies towards Israel – a July 2009 Global Marketing Research Services poll of American Jewish Democratic supporters found that they backed growth and construction in existing Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria by 52% to 37%; that a plurality of 44% believed that ‘Obama is naive in thinking he can make peace with the Arabs’; and that only 27% believed he is right that a Palestinian state’s establishment would bring peace, whereas 55% disagreed, believing the Palestinians would use such a state to attack Israel.

“The conclusion is obvious: any continuation of President Obama’s policy of pressure on Israel to make further one-sided concessions to the Palestinians is contrary to views of the majority Americans and American Jews, including the overwhelming part of American Jewry that supports the Democratic Party. President Obama lacks support for any such policy.”

My note:
The photo of Obama and the Saudi king is a more appropriate photo when speaking of the Middle East peace talks between the Palestinians and Israel; as most are aware of the fact that Abbas is not the spokesperson leading the way for "peace" between the PA's and Israel.

No, folks, the real leader of the gang is the Saudi king and Arab countries ... all pressuring Obama and his gang to force the Arab agenda upon Israel.  The price is higher than all the tea in China, or all the oil in the Middle East ... the price is "Israel", as the expense of undermining Israeli leaders and citizens, and the ultimate goal is the total destruction of Israel, the Jewish state.

Heaven help the United States -- for taking part in this charade!  Obama, your smile may "bedazzle" some folks, but your smile reveals a deceptive agenda.

India: Diwali, the "festival of lights" celebration during Obama's visit

Diwali— an Eco-Friendly Celebration

Diwali, the festival of Lights, is a popular South East Asian holiday.
Darkness is ‘chased’ away by lightening candles and lamps made of clay.

To prepare for Diwali kids help their parents organize and clean,
But don’t throw out your unwanted clothes and toys, instead donate them.
Remind your parents about the importance of giving and being green.

Cleaning up should go beyond your house and classroom.
Lets clean up our environment, pick up some litter,
Or plant a tree or flower seeds and wait for spring to see’em bloom.

The Festival of Lights is a good time to think about all the energy we consume.
Encourage your parents not to turn on all the lights at home,
And instead use candles and clay lamps to brighten up the room.

Lighting fireworks on Diwali is popular and can be fun,
But the toxins used in them are not good for the environment or a human.

Instead of fireworks, there are other ways to light up your outdoor space,
Put up LED holiday lights, they use less energy and will brighten up any place.

Diwali is also a celebration of giving, so many people thinks it’s a good time to buy.
Instead of buying, be creative, make gifts at home- paint a picture or bake a pie.

Do you know how many greeting cards are thrown out each year?
Send your family and friends Diwali e-cards, you can find them here (http://www.indiaexpress.com/cards/Holidays/Diwali/ )

This Diwali take the time to reflect on the things that you and your family can do to be green,
Take the lead and share these ideas with your parents, show them you’re keen to be green!

Wishing you and your family a Happy Diwali!
