Barack Obama’s tasteless and self-serving comment on the death of a breast cancer victim
by Bill Levinson
- And what may be a lasting anecdote for the president’s push on health care reform – Mr. Obama told for the first time a story about a woman in St. Louis who had been part of his campaign.
She couldn’t afford health insurance and put off her exams. After a tough battle for four years, throughout the campaign. She died 5 days ago.
“She insisted that she is going to be buried in an Obama t-shirt,” Obama said, “She was fighting that whole time not just to get me elected, not even to get herself health care, but because she understood that there were others coming behind her who were going to find themselves in the situation. And he didn’t want others going through that something.”
The St. Louis Post Dispatch confirms that Obama used the death of this breast cancer victim to promote himself and stroke his own ego.
- I got a letter — I got a note today from one of my staff — they forwarded it to me — from a woman in St. Louis who had been part of our campaign, very active, who had passed away from breast cancer.
“She didn’t have insurance. She couldn’t afford it, so she had put off having the kind of exams that she needed. And she had fought a tough battle for four years. All through the campaign she was fighting it, but finally she succumbed to it. And she insisted she’s going to be buried in an Obama t-shirt.
Right, Barry. You talk about your supporter as if she was a rock star groupie who worshiped the ground you walk on. Come to think of it, we don’t know any rock stars who would be this tasteless in commentary about a fan’s death.
