Obama wants to increase aid to Egypt

ISRAEL MATZAV

I've pointed out a couple of times the Congress' threats to cut aid to Egypt in the event that it abrogates its treaty with Israel, and possibly even for several lesser offenses. I've also pointed out threats by the Obama administration to veto a budget that conditions aid to Egypt, the 'Palestinian Authority' and others. But what's most amazing is that at a time of economic crisis in the US, President Obama wants to increase aid to Egypt.
Also, although it was after Buultjen's talk, I should note President Obama's recent promises of billions to the new Egyptian government. In Obama's May 19 speech, he promised an additional $1 billion in loan forgiveness plus $1 billion in loan guarantees to the new Egyptian government. And on May 27, the G-8 nations (including the U.S.) promised another $20 billion of aid to Tunisia and Egypt. Obama's action is extremely concerning in light of the likely role of the Muslim Brotherhood in the new Egyptian regime. And it boggles the mind that our tax dollars are going to such an Egyptian regime at a time when Joplin, MO and other U.S. cities need help recovering from tornados.
Read it all. Some Republican candidate ought to be making hay out of this kind of irresponsibility next year.
