IDF to celebrate Israel's 63rd Independence Day

Air Force to conduct nationwide flyover; Navy to hold showcase along the coast; select IDF bases to be open to general public 

To mark Israel's 63rd Independence Day on Tuesday (May 10), the Air Force will conduct a mid-day flyover in the nation's skies, consisting of a series of demonstrations by various types of aircraft. The Navy will conduct a showcase along the Mediterranean coast and in the bay of Eilat. Also, select IDF bases will be open to the general public.

The aerial demonstrations will include appearances by F-16 fighter jets, F-15 fighter jets, CH53 Sikorsky helicopters, Hercules transport planes, Gulfstream V jets and a Boeing 707 tanker. Also, a helicopter display will take place above the President's residence in Jerusalem and an aerobatic display will occur in the skies throughout the country.

The naval showcase in the Mediterranean Sea will consist of a variety of vessels, including missile ships, security vessels, naval commando vessels and the AS565 Panther helicopter.

The Navy base in Eilat will open on the eve of Independence Day (Monday night), between 20:00 and midnight. The naval base in Haifa will open on Independence Day (Tuesday), between 09:30 and 15:00. The naval base in Ashdod will open on Independence Day (Tuesday), between 09:30 and 15:00. The Ashdod and Haifa naval bases will hold exhibitions of weaponry uncovered onboard smuggling vessels.
The IAF bases in Ramat David, Tel Nof and the IAF Technological College in Haifa will open on Independence Day (Tuesday), between 09:00 and 14:00. The bases will hold exhibits of past and present IAF aircraft, IAF weaponry and search and rescue equipment. Fast food stalls and activities for children will also be offered.

The IAF Museum in Hatzerim will open on Tuesday from 09:00-17:00.

It should be noted that weapons and pets cannot be brought onto IDF bases.
