The "War of Words" ...

ONE JERUSALEM

[03.19.2011]
Can Israel Survive Its "friends" ?
A colleague sent me a recent interview with Israel's Prime Minister in which he was talking about the recent murder of a Jewish family. In the interview the Prime Minister goes out of his away to tell the audience that he has counseled settlers not to take the law into their own hands.

When the Prime Minister of Israel refers to the settlers as if they are outsiders on the brink of being vigilantes it is a clear sign that the other side is winning the war of words.

Meanwhile the Jews of J Street and Jewish journalists are busy supporting boycotts of Israeli goods. Caroline Glick has the details here. And to add insult to injury, 30 Jewish Studiesteachers are petitioning the authorities on behalf of thugs who interrupted and silenced Israel's Ambassador Michael Oren at an event at an American university.

While these incidents are troubling, all is not lost. The vast majority of Jews and the American people are steadfast supporters of all of Israel. But Israel must start defending itself. Israel's representatives must defend their country without hesitation because they are in the right.

Note:
Almost immediately after the murders of the Jewish family, many in Israel began noting that Israel should stop referring to Judea and Samaria as the "West Bank" and stop calling Israeli citizens "settlers".  Shame on Israeli newspapers when they use the language of their enemies in describing Israel, its history, and its people!  Yes, there is a "war on words" - words are powerful - as powerful as the missiles Hamas shoots into Israel!
