US to reposition forces near Libya

What a sight!

US to reposition forces near Libya. There is no surprise that we are moving forces near and around Libya, which also happens to be right next to Egypt and yes other significant economic areas like the Suez Canal. With the significant unrest and destabilized events that are occurring n that region one would expect the US to get involved to assist in “humanitarian” operations or “other” operations if required. (take the poll)

This goes back to my post about helping. We help/assist because we can and we have the assets to do so as well. Yes the outcome of the Libyan leader is in our interests as is the current events in Egypt and keeping the Suez Canal open and we may weigh possible intervention against Moammar Qaddafi’s regime. However, if there were a significant humanitarian requirement catastrophe in that area we would be there as well because we have the assets to do so. On a side note if I were a pirate, I would be laying very low about now.

"We have planners working various contingency plans, and I think it's safe to say as part of that we're repositioning forces to provide for that flexibility once decisions are made," Pentagon spokesperson Colonel Dave Lapan told reporters.

Currently there are numerous assets that bring a lot of whoop ass if needed to include the USS Enterprise and the USS Kearsarge that happens to have about 2,000 Marines on board helos and the support structure to help where needed.

Its going to get busy .......time for a Cgar!
