“The unprecedented amount of around $200 million/day would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit,” a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.

I bet that that $200 million per day could be better spent getting jobs for the 17% of Americans who are unemployed.

NDTV About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President. Several officials from the White House and US security agencies are already here for the past one week with helicopters, a ship and high-end security instruments.

“Except for personnel providing immediate security to the President, the US officials may not be allowed to carry weapons. The state police is competent to take care of the security measures and they would be piloting the Presidential convoy,” the official said on condition of anonymity.

Navy and Air Force has been asked by the state government to intensify patrolling along the Mumbai coastline and its airspace during Obama’s stay. The city’s airspace will be closed half-an-hour before the President’s arrival for all aircraft barring those carrying the US delegation.

The personnel from SRPF, Force One, besides the NSG contingent stationed here would be roped in for the President’s security, the official said.

The area from Hotel Taj, where Obama and his wife Michelle would stay, to Shikra helipad in Colaba would be cordoned off completely during the movement of the President.

In this modern day of technology, do you think this trip is beyond extravagant, even for the President of the United States?  At a time when America is suffering from the worse decline in its economy since many can't even remember "when"?

But of course, if one must lick his wounds after an election that has brought his ideology for America in the open (like an open infected wound, or worse, like cancer), how better to spend your time than at the Taj Hotel.

Recently, when it was first revealed that The Obama's would be making this trip, there was a question as to why Obama would not be visiting one of India's oldest shrines and the reason put forth was "it would appear that Obama's shrine visit would cause Americans to wonder if he were a Muslim and he did not wish to offend anyone."

However, what few realized is, the shrine was NOT a "Muslim" shrine - it is Hindu, and therefore, the better reason for not visiting would be because such a visit would insult Muslims - not Americans.  Here's an explanation from an Email I received, from a citizen of India:

"The SIKH community was founded by GURU(Saint) Gobind Sing who was a HINDU...he formed that religion with different aspects...so Basically SIKHISM is branch of HINDUISM n we consider them as HINDUS here in India...all their tradition is same as HINDUS except some points.. 

The SIKHISM got limited population i'e abt 4 Crore ppl...They live mainly in a state named PUNJAB ..All their names are like HINDUS names..there is no difference...

The turban they used to wear on seems like some muslims turban in some muslim contries like Afghan..iran etc...but in ASIAN region ppl will easily come to know the difference between SIKHS n MUSLIM's turbon...i think it is quite confugable to Western ppl as they have no more knowledge abt that... 
Actually OBAMA's team denied to wear it b'coz of it may confuge western world ,mainly Americans as it looks same like Muslims turbon...recently he got some negetive opinions amongst Americans regarding his ISLAM origin...so he don't wanted to create a controvercy unnecessarily...that's the point....

the SIKH's holy shrine is nothing but called by SWARNA MANDIR(Swarna means GOLDEN-MANDIR means temple)..i mean GOLDEN TEMPLE which is made of full gold...It locates in AMRITSAR of PUNJAB state here in INDIA...
