Conference of Catholic bishops for Mideast reportedly call for UN, int'l community to create Palestinian state through legal means; statement says "Holy City of J'lem will be able to acquire its proper status."

'Vatican calls for end to occupation of Arab territories'Catholic bishops for the Middle East on Saturday called upon the United Nations and the international community to "put an end to the occupation of the different Arab territories," AFP reported.

The bishops urged the international community and the UN to take necessary legal steps and to apply the applicable Security Council resolutions toward that end, the report stated.

The statement, which came at the end of a meeting chaired by Pope Benedict XVI, went on to say that "The Palestinian people will this have an independent and sovereign homeland where they can live with dignity and security," according to the report.

The bishops' statement continued, "The Holy City of Jerusalem will be able to acquire its proper status, which respects its particular character, its holiness and the religious patrimony of the three religions: Jewish, Christian and Muslim. We hope that the two-state solution might become a reality and not only a dream," AFP reported.

The statement came at the end of a two-week conference of the Roman Catholic bishops for the Middle East

Note:

With all due respect to the Church, I must ask if the Vatican considers Israel to be a Jewish State.  If so, how does this make Jerusalem less "Holy", when the Church and peoples of all faiths are now worshiping in the "Holy City of Jerusalem"?

And how does the world end up favoring a PLO/PA "two-state" within the land of Israel?

Here's a great solution to all who are deeply concerned for the Palestinians (PLO's) having a "home":
1. Recognize that their home is Jordan and force Jordan to take its people back into the fold.
2. Have all 57 Arab countries take in the Palestinian "refugees", including those in Gaza and be sure to take Hamas with the rest of the Palestinians, and return Gaza to the State of Israel, its rightful owner of the land.
3. Jerusalem is the Capital of Israel - not some kind of  "world" Capital!  Rome is the Capital of the Roman Catholic church; Mecca, the Capital of Islam; Jerusalem, the Capital of Israel.  Since when does any one particular church, or Islam, decide how to split Jerusalem???

Does anyone wonder why the Arabs continue its propaganda against Israel, when it is having so much success throughout the world to undermine the Jewish State of Israel?
