Iran has agreed to donate $25 million (£16 million) to Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in a move that will increase fears that Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan is preparing to abandon the country's secular constitution.

Western diplomats say they are alarmed by reports that Mr Erdogan has negotiated a deal with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for Tehran to make a substantial contribution to the campaign funds of Turkey's leading Islamic party.
Under the terms of the deal Iran has agreed to transfer $12 million to the AKP, with further payments of up to $25 million to be made later in the year. The money is said to be meant to help support Mr Erdogan's campaign for re-election for a third term in next year's general election. ... more

Iran’s Ahmadinejad stops in Syria on way to UN

DAMASCUS, Syria – Iran’s president said Saturday that Middle Eastern countries will “disrupt” American and Israeli plans to change the political geography of the region, appearing to brush aside U.S. efforts to forge a regional peace deal between Israel and its neighbors.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made the comments during a brief stop in Syria, a key all in Tehran’s confrontation with the West, where he held talks with his Syrian counterpart, Bashar Assad.
The meeting comes two days after Assad sat down with the Obama administration’s special Middle East envoy, George Mitchell, in Damascus to discuss starting separate Syria-Israel peace talks.
The back-to-back trips underscored the battle for influence in Syria between Washington and Tehran. Seeking to isolate Iran, President Barack Obama has tried – unsuccessfully, so far – to pry Damascus away from its alliance with Tehran.

Obama not keen on Iran strike; 'not ideal solution'

US president acknowledges in American TV interview that Teheran with nuclear weapons is a "real problem," but US still "open to diplomatic solution."

US President Barack Obama acknowledged that Teheran posessing a nuclear weapon would present a "real problem," in a Monday interview with American news station CNBC cited by Reuters. However, the Amerian president stated that he did not think military action by Israel or the United States was the "ideal way" the threat posed by the Islamic regime's nuclear proliferation effort.

"We continue to be open to diplomatic solutions to resolve this,"
Obama told CNBC.

"We don't think that a war between Israel and Iran or military options would be the ideal way to solve this problem. But we are keeping all our options on the table," he said.

According to poll results released last Thursday, a majority of Americans would oppose joining Israel in a war should it strike Iran.

The Chicago Council on Public Affairs poll reported 56 percent of respondents answering, “No, it shouldn’t” to the statement “If Israel were to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities, Iran were to retaliate against Israel, and the two were to go to war, the United States should or should not bring its military forces into the war on the side of Israel.”

Those responding, “Yes, it should” amounted to 38%.

My notes"

Just wait a minute - please!  "The Chicago Council on Public Affairs" polled who?  One poll does not determine Americans stance on Obama's foolish statements on Iran or Israel!  As a matter of fact, I would not trust anything coming out of "Chicago" - hometown of the good ole' boys and Obama!

This is deceptive!  More games from the Obama Administration to make it appear that Americans are behind his outrageous, foolish, un-American foreign policies (not to mention his policies concerning healthcare, bribes, buyouts, etc.).  How many times has this blog and thousands of others questioned Obama's laid-back attitude towards Iran's possibility of obtaining a nuclear bomb?  How many times have we told him to quit bashing Israel and stop appointing himself as the "apologist" for Islam and all the radical Islamist terrorist organizations?  How many times have we demanded that the US State Department and Obama stop taking the side of Abbas/Palestinians and begin supporting what is best for our ally Israel?

Lastly, but certainly not least, it is noted that Obama's weak response to Iran's nuclear capabilities as "a real problem" sounds like something a 5th grader would say - not words that come out of the mouth of the President of the United States!

The "REAL PROBLEM" is Obama is America's weakest, most incompetent president the United States ever had the misfortune of electing!
