The United States said Tuesday it is making a "full-court press" to encourage the Israelis and Palestinians to resume direct peace talks that lapsed in late 2008.
(Hold the Presses! "to encourage the Israelis" ???? Since when did you have to encourage the Israelis? Daily reports of Abbas' refusal to speak to PM Netanyahu directly should wake up the State Department that their snide remarks need go no further than "encouraging the Palestinians")
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke at the weekend by telephone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well as her counterparts from Jordan and Qatar, State Department spokesman Philip Crowley told reporters.
(Oh no, not another phone call between Clinton and Bibi! - the last time we heard about such a phone call, it was Clinton's rant over Israel insulting the US for announcing the building in East Jerusalem!)
"We have a full court press underway to see if we can move to direct negotiations," Crowley told reporters. "We're hopeful that the parties will reach this point but I can't pinpoint a particular day on the calendar."
(Crowley, are you still in Jerusalem? I keep telling you go home, unpack your suitcase, and do what Clinton just did - use the phone! The answer from the Palestinians will not change - it would be "political suicide" for Abbas to speak to Bibi; and that is a direct quote from the leaders of the PA's)
Crowley said he had no details about a 45-minute one-on-one meeting Clinton had Monday with Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak.
(Really?! How come? Silly person; you mean they do not share what is said within your own Department? I'm sure Defense Minister Barak will inform Israel about this meeting long before the Americans ever here the truth from anyone in Washington, DC regarding negotiations.)
However, he said the chief US diplomat and Netanyahu discussed both the current proximity - indirect - talks as well as how the Palestinians and Israelis could restart direct negotiations with the help of other countries.
(Oh, good ... so you were informed about some details. Did it have anything to do with the FACT that Israel has made concessions for the last year and in return, has received nothing as a token gesture from the PA's that they actually want peace?)
The pair also talked about the increase in aid to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which has seen a relaxation of the Israeli blockade since a diplomatic uproar over a deadly Israeli raid on a Gaza-boundflotilla.
(Oh oh, a "deadly Israeli raid" ... ! Interesting choice of words. Who wrote this darn article?! Someone with a little bias against Israel's right to defend herself against terrorist floating on a damn boat? Well, can't wait until the ship Audacity of Hope goes floating into Israel/Egypt's blockade! Speaking of which, how come Obama has not announced his outrage over a ship using the title of his book to break through Israel's blockade? Is this more hypocrisy coming out of the White House, while supposedly having a "full court press" to encourage everyone to have a Tea Party over peace talks?)
Since May, Israel and the Palestinians have been locked in US-brokered indirect talks.
(Wrong! Wrong again! The only ones locked up in a "US_brokered deal" is the Palestinians. Abbas must have told you more than 100 times, "Read my lips! I will not hold discussions with Bibi - not until he gives me everything I want and more...! Oh, and it would be "political suicide" for me to agree with anything, as I said the other day. And let's not get into the fact that this deal is all about the US backing the Arabs; not about Israel, the Israelis, the Jewish State. It is all about how much Israel is willing to turn over to the Arabs.)
The Palestinians broke off direct negotiations with Israel in December 2008 when the Jewish state launched an offensiveagainst Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
(Finally, one small truthful statement. The PALESTINIANS BROKE OFF DIRECT NEGOTIATIONS WITH ISRAEL .. and that is not about Hamas in the Gaza Strip ... it is about the fact that the Arabs, both Abbas and Hamas will never agree to a small piece of Israel when they want the whole pie!)
