"A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words"
This morning I would like to take a break from all the cares of this old world and tell you a story about my friend, known in cyberspace as "Jedi". His avitar was that of a Jedi's wand that would light up as he spoke of his love of America when posting comments on one of America's major newspapers.
Jedi had a quick wit, great sense of humor and a tremendous love for America and for our dear friend in the Middle East, Israel. We became friends a year ago, and often would post comments together, whenever a particular issue was presented in the daily news.
Of course, we presented our views from a conservative point of view and many a time we would get ourselves into some little debate with a liberal or two; especially during the times when we spoke of America's love and support for Israel.
Over time, Jedi became more than just a computer-friend. We dared take it one step further and became personal friends, and never a day would go by when we did not wish each other a "Good morning, how are you today?" Those greetings were a welcome sight, a warm feeling knowing that someone out there cared enough to take a moment out of a busy schedule to say "hello".
Between us, no subject was taboo; we would talk about our faith and trust in God; our love for our country and the disappointing twists and turns that have taken place over the years and especially since this present administration took over the White House one year ago, January. We are both old enough to remember the days when America's friends were respected by our leaders in Washington and while life is not perfect, we remember the days when we felt that America was more liked than disliked in the world and until September 11th, we had never heard of a man named "bin Laden".
Jedi spent long hours at work, but always had time for friends and family. He loved to share music videos and enjoyed making others laugh by sending some of the funniest videos I have ever watched! He knew how to read between the lines and could sense when someone was having a "bad" day. His main passion was quoting the Constitution when liberals appeared to tear it apart; without the freedom of speech and expression, Jedi said "America is lost".
He was deeply disturbed over Obama's lack of sensitivity when demonstrations by members of Tea Parties took place, as he felt the last thing on earth a president should be doing is taking time out to mock citizens of America for showing concern for their country. Jedi was proud of our flag, our national anthem and loved patriotic songs/music. But his love for music is something that really impressed me, as he had such a wide range of music he shared and all of his music was beautiful!
To the world, Jedi is unknown, but to his friends and me, he was one of America's hero's - a true patriot, deeply loved for his sensitive nature and compassion towards all who knew him; his love for animals, his concern for country and for Israel, our friends
across the pond.
Do you have such a friend? If so, never take such a friend for granted. You are blessed when you meet someone who will take time to say, "Hello, how are you today?"
Last week, I lost my friend Jedi. He is now in a much better place - a place of great joy and happiness, with beautiful music and things my mind can't even imagine. Heaven has gained a true friend and one day I know I will hear Jedi greet me with a "Hello, how are you?", but until that day, his spirit shall always be a part of me and everyone who has had the privilege of knowing him.
And to those who knew Jedi, I send you a hug this morning, as we comfort each other.
Rest in peace, Jedi. You are deeply missed,
Your friend, always
Bee
These are two songs Jedi shared with me - Enjoy!
"I Will Be here"
Peace and Love
