The Islamic Jihad terror group claimed responsibility for the attack.
he IDF sustained no casualties in the incident, which occurred near Kibbutz Nirim on the border with Gaza.
The two terrorists successfully crossed the border fence and hid in a ditch 20 meters into Israeli territory, where they were identified and attacked by the IDF.
As soon as the incident began, several neighboring communities were placed under security alert due to the risk of additional infiltrations, roads were closed and IDF helicopters arrived to assist the search.
