Mother's Day - Remembrance and Celebration

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

"Mother's Day is a time of commemoration and celebration for Mom. It is a time of breakfast in bed, family gatherings, and crayon scribbled "I Love You's."Mother's Day will be celebrated on Sunday May 09, 2010 (in the U.S.). In the UK Mothering Sunday is celebrated on the 14th of March, 2010."  ... FROM Mother's Day on the Net.

Dear Readers,

Tomorrow in the United States it is a holiday, celebrating our Mother's.

It was always a joy to bring my own Mother a smile and each year, on this special day, it was fun to shop for flowers, or a special book Mom wanted to read, and going out to dinner on Mother's Day was a treat for all of us, but especially for my Mother.

With three sisters and two brothers, my Mother was surrounded with a garden of flowers on this special day.  Flowers were one of her greatest joys, and so was her love for music.  Whenever I would visit Mom, there was music playing softly in the background and it always felt like "home", no matter how many years I have tended my own home and raised my own children.

My Mother was my best friend.  We're never too old to need a hug from our Mother.  My Mother always had a kind word and her word's were like a bandaid placed on my heart.

This year marks the eighth year since I have had my Mother with me.  When it comes to our Mother, time does not erase the pain of missing her.  Her memory is blessed to me.  I miss her warm smiles and hugs.  However, each Mother's Day brings happy memories to mind.

So, for everyone who has the privilege of bringing a little sunshine into your Mother's life, tomorrow is her "special" day - make happy memories for yourself and your Mother.

Mother's Love
Her love is like
an island in life's ocean,
vast and wide
A peaceful, quiet shelter
From the wind, the rain, the tide.
'Tis bound on the north by Hope,
By Patience on the West,
By tender Counsel on the South
And on the East by Rest.
Above it like a beacon light
Shine Faith, and Truth, and Prayer;
And thro' the changing scenes of life
I find a haven there.

And Grandma's too...
While we honor all our mothers
with words of love and praise.
While we tell about their goodness
and their kind and loving ways.
We should also think of Grandma,
she's a mother too, you see....
For she mothered my dear mother
as my mother mothers me.
