EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE ... IN GOD'S WORLD

Why do we, as individuals or as nations, do the wrong things? Why do we make the wrong decisions, follow the wrong leaders? Perhaps the old saying, "the devil made me do it" sounds good, but the ultimate decision is our own.
In the Holy Bible we see over and over the cycle that the Israelites repeated: Sin, Punishment, Repentance, and Deliverance. In Judges chapter 21 verse 25, the last verse in the book of, it says "In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit." It was not God's will for the people to have kings any more than it was his will for them to have judges ruling over them. But the people demanded someone be their leader and tell them what to do.
God, in response to the demand from his people, basically said be careful what you wish for, you might just get it -- and they did. God provided judges for them. Under the good judges, and under the good kings later, the people lived as they should and were rewarded with many years of peace. With bad judges and kings the people strayed and experiences years of conflict. But as the cycle goes, they sinned, God punished them, they repented, and were delivered.
I think we as individuals and nations go through a similar cycle and the leaders we have are a big influence on how we act.
After Joshua died and that entire generation died, Judges 2:10-11 tells us "then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served the Baals."
The Lord raised up judges, who saved them out of the hands of these raiders. Yet they would not listen to their judges but prostituted themselves to other gods and worshiped them. Judges 2:16, 17
We must be very careful as individuals and nations to stay close to God, stay close to his Word and his will for our lives. When we don't, he can cause us to see the error of our ways in order to bring us to repentance and ultimately deliverance.
Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah, Gideon were a few of the first judges. For seven years the Israelites did evil and then God called Gideon to lead them. After Gideon's defeat of the Midianites and other enemies of Israel, the Israelites said to Gideon:
"Rule over us -- you, your son and your grandson --because you have saved us out of the hand of Midian." But Gideon told them, "I will not rule over you, nor will my son rule over you. The Lord will rule over you." Judges 8:22,23
As a nation we are seeing too many people who are worshiping everything but God. We are not allowing God to rule over us. In the 2008 election we saw too many people worshiping a candidate for President of the United States of America, Barack Hussein Obama. Like all false gods he has failed the people, taken them in the wrong path along with this nation. Many people have no time to worship, read their Bibles, have prayer, talk to God and allow him to talk to them. We do this at our peril.
God is taken out of the public square, out of schools, out of many churches that have become no more than social gathering places or country clubs. Many of our current leaders pass laws that are against God and his will for his creation.
When the Israelites experienced God's punishment they cried out "O Lord, the God of Israel, why has this happened...?" It happened because they were not looking to the one true King, the Lord God Almighty, as their leader.
Here we are in 2010 and this mighty nation is awakening from the sin of not following the Lord but of putting too much faith in government, jobs, money, secular things.
I'm seeing an awakening. An awakening on a political level that the direction we have been taken in recent years is wrong and a change is in air. I see an awakening also by people who too long have strayed away from God and religion in their lives. There is a hunger out there, a need, an increasing crying out for something bigger than ourselves. Because we are not perfect, we do not know what is best for us, and we do need our Creator, our Savior, our King, who is all knowing, all powerful, ever present.
The TEA Party movement, both those who actively participate and those who support quietly in the background, are the leaders of this awakening to God, individual rights given by God, where we value life, even the unborn, and to a return to American greatness.
All we have to do is take the time and effort to repent, ask God for forgiveness for our slide away from HIm, and he will deliver us from our current situation.
I pray for individuals and I pray for this nation. May we see the error of our ways and allow God to do what he does best, lead us in the right direction.
