Should Israel build quietly or shout loudly?

By Ted Belman

Shlomo Angel writes that Sunday’s rally in Silwan jeopardizes Jewish sovereignty in Jerusalem. The Needless Rightest March of dozens was led by Baruch Marzel and Itamar Ben Gvir.
He wrote
Anyone interested in the well-being of Jewish sovereignty in Jerusalem realized that the march would certainly create more objections and pressures against the settlement enterprise and construction in the east of the capital. During the 43 years of the unified Jerusalem, all those involved in the work made sure to act, rather than talk. And so, at this time Jerusalem spreads almost all the way to Ramallah in the north, outflanks Bethlehem on the south, and hundreds of Jewish families live in almost any location in the east of the capital, including in Silwan. Silwan (that is, Kfar HaShiloah) underwent a great revolution in recent years and has turned into an attractive tourist site offering a safe and tranquil atmosphere. This revolution was premised, first and foremost, on massive development of impressive historical sites, through tight and quiet cooperation among government and city hall officials, the police, and village residents. Yet now, the marchers attempted to destroy many of these great achievements for nothing. There was no doubt that the march would create media resonance that would further boost the great question mark presented by Obama and the Israeli leftist camp over Israel’s sovereignty in east Jerusalem. For this reason, the overwhelming majority of the rightist camp objected to the march. Exceptionally so, Silwan’s Jewish residents published a joint statement to that effect with Arab village residents. The same sentiments are held by the prime minister and most rightist Knesset members, and we can assume that the same is true for an overwhelming majority within the Yesha Council.
And he goes on to make a separate point,
For too long, the High Court has turned into the most welcoming address for all our nutcases. Any radical, foolish, or destructive argument is granted in-depth discussion by the honorable judges. The High Court clearly had no other option but to approve the needless march, after it already allowed the Gay Pride Parade to go ahead in Jerusalem of all places, as well as the Sheikh Jarrah protests and all the other blatant provocations by the far Left. Indeed, Marzel’s and Ben Gvir’s march clearly disparages the absence of limits forced upon us by the High Court – all of us are paying the price for it, both leftists and rightists.
Marzel obviously believes we should exercise our right loudly, not quietly.

  1. If Israel is now fighting verbal terrorism and a delegitimization campaign waged in the media because so much of the mainstream media obsesses over Israel, then a bit more quiet is needed at THIS moment in time. The NYT gave the Silwan protest front page coverage, while totally ignoring the thousands at Sunday’s pro-Israel rally down the street from the NYT building. How does that help Israel with a unified Jerusalem in the long term?
The media is the problem. 90,000 Okinawans protested on Saturday. When did 90,000 Japanese ever protest in public? The government may fall because of the issue over U.S. military base location on Okinawa. Yet, Silwan got the front page.
Not fair, but reality. Just like the Shepherd’s Hotel plan is provocative. Why not turn it into a museum instead of housing?
I am so sick of the American left screaming about Israeli settlements. I just wish the screaming was about Ramat Shlomo and not Silwan or the former Grand Mufti residence/Shepherd’s. I can shut up the screamers about Ramat Shlomo by tell them a few goats were displaced, not any people.
    sorry, just venting.

American liberals wouldn’t recognize an Israeli settlement if you shoved one up their collective ass.
    They hate Jews.

  3. The “I Love Israel” Jew Haters.
From Andrew Sullivan today: “I regard myself as fervently pro-Israel as does, I believe, the president.”
This from a blatant anti-Semite who aggressively supports Palestinian terrorism, publishes phony maps purporting to de-legitimize Israel, and generally acts as a propagandist for Hamas.
But to hear Sullivan tell it, he is “fervently pro-Israel”.
    And so is Obama!
Yeah, there’s no one who loves Israel quite like Obama.
This technique of “fervently supporting Israel” while actually supporting the Palestinian terrorists is quite widespread.
Geraldo Rivera proclaims his love for Israel even as he insists that Israel is an illegitimate occupier of Palestine, and by that he means ALL of Israel is illegitimately occupying Palestine.
Even Walt and Mearsheimer claim to be “pro-Israel”.
    So do Brzezinski and Scowcroft.
Truth be known, none of them has as much affection for the Jewish people as Heinrich Himmler did.
But the sick game goes on.
“Boy, do we love Israel…that horrible nation that steals land and persecutes innocents and harvests organs and causes the deaths of Americans in Iraq.”
“We love that shitty little country so much!”
I wonder who Sullivan and Rivera and the others think they’re fooling?
    Liberal Jews?
There exists no need to fool fools.

  4. Ayn, I don’t know why. But I’m still surprised when liberals look us right in the eye and proceed to tell us huge, absurd lies. “I’m a moderate Democrat. I’m a fiscal conservative. I love Israel. I’m pro-life.” Ugh.
…only their actions…only who they surround themselves with…only the fruit of their ideologies matter.

  5. It was Goebbels who said that the biggest lies tend to be the most widely believed.
I stopped believing liberals when as a child I first saw Dick Cavett on television.
I knew then that something was terribly wrong.

Ayn I was watching FOX one evening when Geraldo made the comment. I said to myself what a dumb bleeding liberal.
First of all the jerk should know the Palestinians are really Jordanians and Ayn I know you know better than I the history of the British regarding Palestine.
Time for them to return to Jordan and Syria.

  9. Let’s play Jeopardy!
The answer is “Because groveling in person is more fun.”
The correct question: “Why does the administration now insist upon sending an ambassador to Syria?”
The answer is “No fucking way in hell.”
The correct question: “When the Muslim President of the Palestinian Authority visits the White House next month, will he be accorded the same contemptuous treatment inflicted upon the Jewish Prime Minister of Israel?”
The answer is “Driving a company car, an idiosyncrasy, and Barack Hussein Obama.”
The correct question: “What are a perq, a quirk, and a jerk?”

  11. How much more lies shall we endure?

The Jerusalem Post reports that Jerusalem municipal committees had completely stopped even reviewing plans for Jewish construction in East Jerusalem since Biden scandal. Not just construction, but even preliminary planning is completely frozen.
I don’t support piecemeal construction in East Jerusalem as it cannot anchor this territory for Jews.
Eviction of Arabs – yes, fearful one-house-at-a-time construction – no.
But Netanyahu beats his chest publicly that he would never stop Jewish construction in East Jerusalem. Liar, Liar and Traitor!
