Rev. Wright is a living legend in his own mind
Saw this story last night on The O’Reilly Factor and Mediaite, so I started digging as well. One thing is for sure, Rev. Wright may have one of the biggest egos in the country.
On March 5, 2010, Minister Louis Farrakhan, The Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Pastor Emeritus, Trinity United Church of Christ, and Father Michael Pfleger, The Community of St. Sabina, are being honored as Living Legends.
The press release was issued on Rev. Wright’s website.
The proceeds will supposedly benefit the Kwame Nkrumah Academy, Trinity Child Care Centers, Inc., Saint Sabina Academy and Yele Haiti. Admission runs anywhere from general admission for $40 to $100 for a VIP ticket.
But who is actually honoring these men? See if you can follow this… While the release comes from Rev. Wright’s website, the event appears to be sponsored by something called “Grace of God, NFP.”
I have seen Grace of God, NFP listed in the category of “Publishing Consultants Services” headquartered at 17601 Arlington Lane, Hazel Crest, IL. Now, according to Wright’s own press release, Jeri L. Wright is the president and CEO of Grace of God, NFP! Jeri is Rev. Wright’s daughter and GoG, NFP handles publicity for Rev. Wright’s books.
So, it would appear as though Rev. Wright is really honoring himself!

NOTE: On the release, we’re also reminded that “Dr. Wright has just released A Sankofa Moment: The History of Trinity United Church of Christ.” AND that “Dr. Wright’s books will be available for purchase on the night of the event. So, is this just some kind of glorified book signing
Who is benefiting?
The Kwame Nkrumah Academy is described by as diverse sources as The National Review and The New Yorker as an “African-centered” grade school. They refer to the school as “Wright’s school” or make reference to him founding it. The National African American Student Leadership Conference states that “Rev. Wright’s church programs ranged from HIV/AIDS outreach programs and two senior housing complexes, to a federally funded childcare program for low-income family and the Kwame Nkrumah Academy serving students on the south side of Chicago.”
Trinity Child Care Centers, Inc. is associated with the Trinity United Church of Christ – Rev. Wright’s church.
Saint Sabina Academy is associated with Father Pfleger’s Church. On their homepage: “We look forward to a year of spiritual growth under the leadership and direction of our pastor, Rev. Dr. Michael Louis Pfleger.”
The Yele Foundation is Wyclef Jean’s Haiti Charity – Some have recently questioned how legitimate that organization really is.
So, it would that Rev. Wright is holding an event to honor himself and his pals. And the proceeds go to Wright/Pfeger associated organizations and one other that his recently undergone some serious scrutiny.
