Israel will not change her policies, "As far as we are concerned, building in Jerusalem is like building in Tel Aviv," says Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, and he wrote to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to remove any doubt about the issue. Yahoo, Netanyahu!
Netanyahu has been invited to meet President Barack Obama this coming Tuesday, Netanyahu but he has not accepted that invitation (yet?). But as always, Israel is willing to make further

But he said Israel was willing to widen the scope of planned indirect talks with the Palestinians that Mr Mitchell is to mediate.
The diplomatic package Mr Netanyahu is offering has not been made public, but officials say one element is agreement to discuss all the outstanding issues, including the future of Jerusalem, as well as borders, Jewish settlements and Palestinian refugees.
Mr Netanyahu comments on settlements were quickly denounced by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as unhelpful to attempts to restart peace talks, the AFP news agency reported. (BBC)
From the ever wonderful Jawa Report:
Poor, poor Palestine my arse:
Israeli will neither change policies that have been upheld by its various governments since 1967 nor halt construction in Jerusalem, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stressed at Sunday's cabinet meeting. [snip]
Netanyahu said his position would remain unflagging during his visit to Washington later on Sunday, and that he would clarify that to the Obama administration.
Obi One will definitely not like. Tough shite I say.
As with all things, there is the good news, and there is the bad news:
Obama Successfully Blackmails Netanyahu Into Releasing Palestinian Terrorists, Easing Up On Iran's Hamas Army, From Mere Rhetoric.
Ralph Peters has some advice for Obama in his article "Breaking With Israel", (hat tip R.J.Godlewski)
Obama's Cairo diatribe was hailed by the left as the greatest speech given by an American president (as were all of Obama's speeches back then). It may, indeed, prove great in its effects -- but the results all look negative for America, Israel and freedom.
Sorry, Mr. President: The Palestinians, Syrians, Iranians, Hexbollah, Hamas, Russians, Chinese, Chavistas and all those enemies you've rushed to embrace are not going to love us -- or you. Cease your mad affairs. Come back to our marriage with our proven allies.
Betraying Israel may give you emotional satisfaction, sir, but it will bring us no lasting benefits. Israel is, literally, flesh of our flesh. Don't stick a knife in it.
