"Real Americans Defend Israel"

February 13, 2010 By: BeeSting

"Because it is right."

Since the newly elected President, Barack Obama took office and the apologies to world leaders for "America's past mistakes", as he liked to describe the purpose of the apologies, an awakening began to spread like the flame of a candle in a dark place and Americans began making slogans to show their continued support for and relationship with America's ally Israel. The popularity of "Real Americans Defend Israel" signs is now flying like a banner across the waves of Internet sites and blogs, as Americas way of demonstrating both love and support for Israel.

Why do Americans feel the necessity of coming public and announcing support for Israel? What prompted millions of conservatives to reach out and put up websites for the sole purpose of shinning a light on America's policies and the feelings of abandonment of our best friend in the Middle East? I believe it began the day Obama gave his rousing speech in Cairo. It was evident to many that our friends in Israel were in for a rough ride, and so were we Americans. We heard a President re-write the history of America and Israel in one fell swoop, while he stood proudly reinventing the Muslim nations as co-founders of America.

Since that Cairo speech, Americans across the land have held Tea Party demonstrations, written and signed millions of petitions to their representatives in Washington, DC, called and left messages at the White House, all in an attempt to get our politicians to recognize that "We, the people" insist that our government stand by its Constitution and stop holding secret meetings that have devastating consequences upon our nation, and that of our ally Israel.

Today, the second month into the second year of Obama's presidency, the votes and cries are growing stronger across our great land! However, there is still much work to be done. We expect a huge turnover this coming November, as Americans plan to vote out of Congress all those who refused to listen to the citizens of these "united" States. Threats of terrorism go ignored; the Christmas Day bomber from Yemen was given his "Miranda Rights'" instead of being turned over to our military for interrogation as a "terrorist", Americans ask themselves, "Are we living in the days before September 11th - days when we ignored all signs that there were Islamic terrorists wishing nothing but our deaths, rather then the day after over 3,000 American citizens died in planes and tall buildings, both in NYC and in the federal offices of the Pentagon?

On the Jewish Virtual Library, by Michael Bard, the best description and reason for America's support for Israel is: "For all the complexity of the alliance, the American position might have been summed up most succinctly by Lyndon Johnson. When Soviet Premier Aleksei Kosygin asked him why the United States supports Israel when there are 80 million Arabs and only 3 million Jews, (now 6 million Jews), the President replied simply, "Because it is right."
