Reagan son builds political operation

My colleague Ken Vogel notes that Michael Reagan, the radio host and late president's eldest son, appears to be building a political operation of his own under the rubric of Reagan PAC.

According to a press release, "Michael Reagan is the spokesman for Reagan PAC, a newly formed organization dedicated to finding and supporting Republican candidates that recognize the contemporary conservative principles of Pres. Ronald Reagan and are committed to their realization."

The release, from former Mike Huckabee aide Kirsten Fedewa, takes issue with Michael's brother Ron's suggestion that their father wouldn't have supported the tea party movement.

"I believe he would embrace the Tea Party Movement, if he were alive today, and support the work of Sarah Palin, Scott Brown and others who espouse conservative principles, who are opening up the eyes of the public to what is happening to our nation," Michael Reagan says in the release. "Unlike my brother, I campaigned with and for my father in 1976 and in 1980 — and I feel more qualified to say what he would and would not have supported. He would be applauding the grassroots organization of this country and Sarah Palin for making herself available to elect conservative candidates."

Reagan lives in Los Angeles.
