False gods brew bitter tea (Obama vs. Tea Parties)

By Judi McLeod Monday, February 22, 2010

imageIf I were Obama, I would apply the same fate to the Tea Party Movement that I would to America: Take it down from within.

Knowing that the Tea Party organization is as diverse as the groups pushed by government, I would paint them with the same brush trying to portray them every one as redneck, anti-establishment, gun-toting right wingers.

Already knowing of their patriotic passion from flying over their 1.2-plus million, 9/12 turnout, I would go right on pretending not to have seen them. Were I Obama, I would celebrate faux leaders who sing the Tea Party a great wooing song but say little of substance.

I would hold fast to the pretense of not knowing that the words, “Hello my name is the Republican Party and I have a problem, I’m addicted to spending and big government,” were just the words written by a brilliant copywriter.

I would be most pleased with gatherings like CPAC, where only one year ago a talk show host with 25 years of experience under his belt was replaced by a Johnny-come-lately drafted in by FoxNews from CNN just a little over a year ago.

In fact Glenn Beck made the transition from CNN to Fox in October 2008, just weeks before Obama’s election.

Were I Obama I would recognize my TelePrompter in a chalkboard.

Were I Obama I would welcome the entry of a third party in time for the next elections. With both the Democrats and Republicans being the accursed, the Dems would slide up the middle in any electoral battle where there are close races between Dems and Repubs.

I would take heart to the third party theory in the straw vote overwhelmingly won by Ron Paul.

If I were Obama, I would use my lapdog mainstream media to tie every incident where innocent people are killed to the Tea Party Movement. If someone from FoxNews were to come along and make that tie rather than me, so much the better.

I would just love it and have secret giggle sessions with Michelle to hear network hosts railing daily about my misdeeds without ever coming up with any solutions for we the people.

But If I were Obama, the hair would be standing at the nape of my neck because Tea Party members are not so easily fooled by false gods.

I would worry that independence still counts in some quarters. That disappointment in false gods are making those members even more determined to bring back the Constitution.

If I were Obama I would worry that real life on the farm and in the city; real pain from job and home loss are far more meaningful and better teachers to the modern masses than the Marxist words in a little book by the long dead Saul Alinksy.

If I were Obama I wouldn’t yet celebrate the effect on the Tea Party Movement by false Fox gods Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly.

If I were Obama I would be starting to envision my empty world without the toy called “Amerika” because one false god is as doomed as the other.

Sarah Palin lashes Obama at first Tea Party convention

Former US vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has spoken at the first US Tea Party convention, urging a return to conservate principles.

Speaking in Nashville, Mrs Palin called President Obama's 2011 budget "immoral" and said it would raise the US debt.

The year-old Tea Party movement includes many people who oppose Barack Obama's plans for healthcare reform and the president's stimulus package.

Mrs Palin said future generations would pay the cost if spending was not cut.

"It's easy to understand why Americans are shaking their heads when Washington has broken trust with the people that these politicians are to be serving," she told the convention.

'Drowning in debt'

When she warned that the US was "drowning in national debt, and many of us have had enough," the former governor of Alaska was rewarded with a standing ovation.

I am a big supporter of this movement. America is ready for another revolution and you are part of this
Sarah Palin

She also berated the Obama administration for focusing on adversaries of the US rather than its allies.

"We need a foreign policy that distinguishes America's friends from her enemies, and recognises the true nature of the threats that we face," Mrs Palin said.

She praised the leaderless, bottom-up approach of the Tea Party movement, saying its success had Washington politicians running scared.

"I am a big supporter of this movement," she said, and added - in a nod to the Tea Party's name, a reference to a famous protest against British colonial rule: "America is ready for another revolution and you are part of this".

Congress goal

Barely a year old, the Tea Party gained influence during the acrimonious US healthcare reform debate.

TEA PARTY
The movement takes its name from the 1773 protest against British taxation, the Boston Tea Party
American colonists rebelled against attempts by Britain to impose parliamentary taxes on them without allowing the colonists representation in the British parliament
The modern-day Tea Party is described as a grassroots movement that supports limited government and opposes high government spending
The informal movement is unified against President Barack Obama's healthcare proposals, his economic stimulus package and other aspects of his agenda

Members, gathered from state-level Tea Parties, complain that big spending to stimulate the economy is being wasted in Washington and on Wall Street while small-town America has to tighten its belt.

And the coalition of disaffected conservatives is undoubtedly growing in influence - its endorsement of Republican Scott Brown helped his election last month as Massachusetts senator, says the BBC's Madeleine Morris, attending the Nashville event.

Our correspondent says that movement's organisers have announced the formation of a political action committee, with funds of $10m, whose goal will be to get up to 20 conservative candidates into Congress in November's mid-term congressional elections.

There has been controversy over the use of paid lobbyists and PR companies at the conference and Mrs Palin's appearance fee: reported to be as much as $100,000.

Some activists have also complained about the $500 (£317) registration fee for the Nashville conference.

But in an opinion piece published on USA Today website ahead of the conference Mrs Palin said she would not benefit financially from speaking at the event.

Instead she said she was motivated only by her "goal [...] to support the grassroots activists who are fighting for responsible, limited government - and our constitution".

SEIU behind anti-tea party website

Rick Moran

We received numerous complaints yesterday from AT readers who were concerned about a Google Ad that bashed the tea party movement. It turns out, that the website the ad was linked to was created with funds contributed at least partly by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

It should be noted that the ad itself was placed by Google and in no way reflected our views. But, as our Editor in Chief Thomas Lifson pointed out, the editorial and advertising functions of the website are completely separate entities - for obvious reasons. Our opinions are not for sale and keeping a wall between these functions is necessary to ensure that. The ad has since been taken down.

But the question of who sponsored it in the first place wasn't answered until Lee Doren did a little digging:

I just came across a new website titled: http://www.TheTeaPartyIsOver.org

It is paid for by the American Public Policy Committee. Well, according to opensecrets.org, the two donors for American Public Policy Committee this year are Patriot Majority and Patriot Majority West.

However, according to opensecrets.org, the 2nd largest contributor in 2008 to Patriot Majority was SEIU and other top Unions around America. I imagine the diversion of Union money gets much deeper than this. Please spread the word before they start getting their message out now. Thanks. (H/T: Jim Hoft )

Good to know where your enemies are coming from.

‘Tis the week before Christmas…

‘Tis the week before Christmas and all through the land, not a freedom is safe from Obama’s hand.

By Henry Lamb Saturday, December 19, 2009

‘Tis the week before Christmas and all through the land, not a freedom is safe from Obama’s hand.
Bankers, bewildered, before him now bow, while auto-makers, thankful, praise his cash cow.
With energy and health care nearing control, his grasp on the nation is as he foretold.
The people are stirred by his escapades, and are somewhat shocked by the history they made.
Obama is not what he promised to be; he brings, instead, tyranny.

America’s great experiment in freedom was designed by our Founders to create a new kind of government consisting of the very people for whom the government was made. The first purpose of this new government was to protect the freedom of the people against all enemies both foreign and domestic, and especially from governmental tyranny. To keep the federal government under control, the designers limited the power of the new federal government to those very specific areas set forth in Article 1, Section 8.

These limitations are now routinely ignored by both the House and the Senate.

The one mechanism in our system of government designed to rid our government of those who abuse the Constitution is the biennial elections.

America stands at the brink of a Marxist abyss because Americans have elected a majority of officials who do not honor the Constitution, who do not respect the value of individual freedom, who crave personal power and perks more than the prosperity produced by free people operating a free market.

A majority of disappointed non-Democrats allowed this congressional majority to be elected by staying home on Election Day.

If the United States created by the Constitution is to survive, Americans must mobilize and remove the current majority in Washington. Actions by the Washington majority have stirred deep-seated anger and patriotic enthusiasm across the countryside, but there is a very real danger that this anti-majority fervor will be splintered.

Tea Party activists are battling for leadership while Glenn Beck’s 9-12 groups compete for attention. Third Party promoters vie for support in the face of waning Republican influence. This is a guaranteed formula for failure in 2010.

Victory in 2010 is not necessarily determined by party label. There Are Democrats who believe in the Constitutional limitation of Congressional power, and Republicans who do not. The challenge faced by voters is finding candidates – regardless of party affiliation – who are strong advocates of the U.S. Constitution, as demonstrated by deeds, not rhetoric. Sadly, many of these candidates labor fruitlessly in third-party campaigns.

Rush Limbaugh’s advice to third parties is sound: take control of the Republican Party and make it the Party of the Constitution.
In the last hundred years, third parties have done nothing but help elect the candidate they most wanted to defeat. Theodore Roosevelt was the most successful third-party candidate in the 20th century. His 27% of the 1912 vote assured the election of Woodrow Wilson, who gave the world the League of Nations. Robert LaFollett’s third party received 17% in 1924; George Wallace drew 14% in 1968, and John Anderson got 7% in 1980. Multi-millionaire Ross Perot mustered 19% in 1992, and 8% in 1996, both times, just enough to insure the election of Bill Clinton.

This is not the year for another failed third-party effort; this is the year to save the nation. The best way to do that is for conservatives to converge on the Republican Party and take control. Democrats who are sick of seeing what their Marxist leadership is doing to the nation may want to consider siding with the conservatives in the 2010 election – to help keep Republicans honest.

The argument that insists that a vote for either a Democrat or Republican is casting a vote for the lesser of two evils is, at best, superficial. A party label does not evil make. Evil exists in every political party – granted, more in some than in others. The challenge is to elect candidates who demonstrate their respect for the Constitution. The tragedy will be conservatives getting caught up in a power struggle that paves the way for another Marxist majority to march into Washington.

Ten months is barely time to find and fund the candidates who will reverse the wreckage wrought by this Marxist majority in Washington. This great American experiment in freedom is wholly dependent upon the desire of free people to stay free.

America’s freedom is at greater risk than at any time in history. Just as our forefathers fought off those who would impose tyranny in the past, this generation is called upon now to cast off another threat to freedom. This time, the enemy is already in Washington.
