Gaza - "Palestine" Press -

The Independent Commission for Human Rights, on Thursday, expressed concern about the increase of death sentences issued in the Gaza Strip, demanding the permanent "military court" in Gaza to stop the death penalty because it poses a violation, describing it as "treachery" for all international norms and conventions of human rights.

The Commission called in a press statement to stop issuing death sentences, in line with the efforts of the international community towards the abolition of the death penalty, and replacement of 'Baquba', a measure of justice in the context of criminal "philosophy".

The authority said, "The Permanent (so-called) Military Court in Gaza City, sentenced to death 4 persons in separate occasions: Jamil Zakaria Juha (28 years), from Gaza City, and Jihad Muhammad Mansour Maghazi from a "refugee camp", and Ayman Al-Awad Hussein Al-Masraei (29 years), from Gaza City. "

According to sources, the Commission has established a permanent "military court", during a meeting in Gaza City on Monday, 06.12.2010. The accused, who are considered "Kfarin"(infidels) from justice have been sentenced to death and shot by a firing squad. The accused were charged with kidnapping and premeditated murder, according to the provisions of the Revolutionary Penal Code of 1979 - Penal Code No. 74 of 1936.

On the same day, the "military court" sentenced to death-by-hanging, Mamdouh Mohamed Al-Attar (34 years), on charges of spying for "hostile parties", according to the Revolutionary Penal Code of 1979 - Penal Code No. 74 of 1936.

The Board stressed the need not to drop any criminal punishment, and does not diminish in any way from the seriousness of the crimes attributed to the accused, warning that the continuing issuance of these provisions constitute a serious human rights violation, the right to live and the right to a fair trial, which is provided for in International Human Rights and "Palestinian" laws.
