Tea Overboard!
George Hewes, a Boston shoemaker, was among those who boarded one of the ships dressed as an Indian. Sixty years later, as one of the last surviving members of the Tea Party, he recalled the events of that night and his participation in that historic moment. Author Alfred Young in his book "The Shoemaker and the Tea Party" described Hewes as "a nobody who briefly became a somebody in the Revolution and, for a moment near the end of his life, a hero."
Once in a blue moon I get emails from a gentleman who is a retired pastor. I'm on his list because we used to correspond about genealogy in the years prior to my taking up blogging. I don't remember if our family histories ever intersected and I have no idea where he lives. All I know is that he just sent this out to 2,000+ folks on his email list.
To: Mr. Sean J. McManus, President, CBS NewsSent: Monday, November 1, 2010 3:24 AMSubject: Caught with your hand in the cookie jar.
Mr. McManus, I sent an e-mail to the CBS News staff expressing my utter disgust over revelations regarding CBS News staffers efforts to destroy the candidacy of a Republican candidate for congress. In retrospect, more needs to be said. Before you go "on-air" to announce firings and express regret, there are a couple of things of which you need to be mindful.First, all of America is innately aware that you profoundly regret that CBS News staffers were stupid enough to be caught on audio tape, planning the deliberate, malicious destruction of a decent man's reputation in order to further the liberal media's agenda of collusion with liberal politicians in continuing to control America and Americans and to hell with the electorate.Because of the blatantly obvious, massive tsunami of liberal media bias exhibited during this and the last national election, you have painted yourself into a very tight corner. Nothing, absolutely nothing you can say, will convince America that this is an isolated incident involving but a handful of rogue staffers. The massive, long term evidence of vicious, nation wide liberal media bias directed at conservatives simply will not allow for such a simplistic interpretation. I can assure you that Americans will view this latest disgusting incident as but the tip of an horrific liberal iceberg that is slowly ripping the heart out of America's beloved ship of state.Recent actions of the liberal media readily equate to spraying accelerant upon the frustration and rage of heartbroken Americans, and then deliberately attempting to ignite a spark which will allow you to "self-righteously" report that the conflagration is the work of deranged, Right-Wing Conservative Extremist.Mr. McManus, we deranged, Right-Wing Conservative Extremists are neither more nor less than veterans, teachers, policemen, farmers firefighters and factory workers who are old enough to remember when terms such as "American," "Statesmen" and "Free Press" were not just words, but the very essence and lifeblood of daily life in the America in which we grew up.
Do what you feel you must in attempting to "sell" your regret to the American public. I warn you however, given what liberal politicians have done to destroy our economy, we Americans are not in much of a "buying" mood these days. With a heart broken by what I see being done to my country, I remain,

Little known FACTOID:
The tea destroyed in Boston Harbor
that was imported by the East India Tea Company
was not actually from India but … from China.
